Watch for the close up!

I've been playing around with our camera recently just to see what it can do. This has lead to lots of pictures of the dogs and some of the chilblains.

What I really like doing, though, is taking close up pictures of things - or macro photography, as it's known in the industry. Although I'm not entirely sure what industry that is. Or even if it is known as that.

I did have a bit of time to kill today before picking N up from school and so I thought I would have a wander and, given the recent snowfall, see if I could get some nice wintery type macro photos. My plan failed for two reasons:

1. There was very little of interest to photograph, and

2. It was bloody cold!

This means that, for the purposes of this post, I'm going to subject you to some close up pictures of watches. Anyone who knows me will know that I have a thing for watches and that means that taking pictures of my watches (espescially close-up, detailed pictures) is something that makes me strangely happy.

(showing off lots off scratches!)

Logo detail from Seiko SKX781 "Orange Monster"

Movement detail from Christopher Ward C5 Malvern Aviator

I'll not bore you with any more although I can assure you that the pictures look more impressive when blown up to full size!

Park Life

I promised the boys that from the new year I'd take them to the park every weekend (weather permitting!). Whilst today wasn't the best weather, it wasn't raining so we went and had an hour playing and wandering about.

It's really nice to see the two boys running around together instead of fighting with each other! The open spaces must allow them to release a little steam. The park also seems to keep them smiling and that is something that is priceless!

I managed to get a couple of snaps of the boys on the play equipment…

The last picture is of some geese. The boys didn't turn into geese!

My eyes!

Does this picture make your eyes go funny when you stare at it?

Tyler the Leaf Insect

As I said in the last post, more on N's little Leaf Insect in the next post! I'd simply posted my last entry from my mobile but I needed to get on the PC to get some pictures.

Tyler is his name and if you follow this link you'll be able to see the Wikipedia page about this interesting critter. They're very easy to look after and are a really fascinating creature, especially if you think camouflage and mimicry is in any way interesting!

The whole point of this was to post pictures, so here are some pictures!

I'm back!

It would seem that it's been very nearly a year since I posted anything on this blog - in fact, I'm surprised it's still active!

But, I suppose that's what happens when you become one of the workers instead of being one of those scrounging students! I'm mostly enjoying work - as much as work can be enjoyed. After a week and a bit off over Christmas with the family it's been a bit of a wrench going back today. After all that training I suppose I should put the 'skills' I've learned to good use…oh, and I should be contributing to the house seeing as F has supported us for the best part of five years! Mind you, I still felt like feigning some kind of tropical disease this morning…!

Christmas was very pleasant this year. The boys got some nice presents which they're still enjoying eight days later! Animal mad N bought a corn snake with his Christmas money but current thought suggests that this he may be heading back on account of him being a very grumpy snake.

N also got a Leaf Insect which is a really cool creature. More on this little fella in my next post!
